Alone, the walls of Baghdad have sung for ten thousand years. A final wonder and refuge against endless storms. A brass city built by the Blessing and powered by the steam and song of the ancient Sah. its walls weaken and its rulers grasp at immortality, beating their bodies into twisted automatons.

Alone, a scholar reads by dwindling candle and burning hope. She is cursed with a stolen gift. And a terrible truth. The Ruh, the soul, is fading from this world. Her journey will lead her through old legends and twisted schemes. But first she must marry a monster.
